THE Packing List

Well folks, my around the world adventure has officially begun. I thought it might be helpful or somewhat enlightening for you to browse the items I decided would be a necessity to lug around for the foreseeable future. I laid out and photographed my possessions in categories so they would be easy to identify. After taking the pictures, I made a few last minute additions and subtractions that I will list at the end of the post. And without further ado:

All of these things were packed inside my Kelty Redwing 2650cc backpack.

There were a few things I added and subtracted at the last minute. Let me see if I can remember everything….

ADDITIONS
Lifestraw water sterilization straw
Earplugs
Another small notebook and pen
About a million tampons in every conceivable nook and cranny because I’m paranoid I won’t be able to find them in SE Asia
Condoms-better safe than sorry with Cambodian chlamydia
10 or so plastic ziplock bags/plastic grocery bags for dirty laundry or a million other uses
Copies of important documents
2 paperback books that I will trade out along the way

SUBTRACTIONS
1 tank top

I’m sure the list of subtractions will grow the longer I’m out there. I may have been a bit ambitious packing so many tops, as my backpack is groaning at the internal pressure. My first goal for this trip has been to pack as lightly as possible. I feel I’ve done well with my choices except for the amount of tanks and t-shirts. “They” say you’re supposed to pack half of the stuff and twice the money. I couldn’t/haven’t done either of those things so we’ll see how it goes from here.
